Almost New Age
Is willing to accept that she creates her own reality except for some of the parts where she can’t help but wonder what the hell she was thinking
Before Dawn
I’ve always liked the time before dawn because there’s no one around to remind me who I’m supposed to be, so it’s easier to remember who I am
Believing My Father
I used to believe my father about everything but then I had children myself & now I see how much stuff you make up just to keep yourself from going crazy.
Kindered Spirits
You’re the strangest person I ever met, she said & I said you too & we decided we’d know each other a long time.
These are just a few of my favorite quotes from storypeople.com but I could go on and on. They’ve created prints, books, frames, cards, etc that somehow capture a feeling that I can never put into words. I’ve gifted these for graduation, birthday, new babes, marriages, & father’s day … I can always find one to match any occasion. What I can’t do justice (on my site) is show you the great illustrations that come with the quotes as I typically buy mine as prints. They are black and white drawings, almost stick figures with amazing colors.
The folks at storypeople.com have this to say about themselves …
We’re a diverse group of people, artists, activists, healers, tinkerers. We talk, we laugh, we eat great food & drink great wine, sometimes we disagree (passionately) & sometimes we agree (equally passionately) & it’s all part of the same gift of being alive together. Our wish is that other people experience this amazing world we live in as a world of imagination & possibility & healing. We believe our stories do that. (& that’s not just StoryPeople stories, but all our stories…) We believe (fiercely) in the power of stories, not because they’re our stories, but because it is valuable & right to protect the precious connections between people.
I’ve listed a few more of my favorites below but there are hundreds to choose from on storypeople.com.
Avoidance
I’ve learned not to look too closely, she said. Otherwise I’d just keep finding out stuff that’d bug me & we’d never get along.
Crossing the Line
I have too much to lose, she said, if I cross that line. Like what? I said. She could not think of anything that day so she said she’d get back to me. Since then I’ve been thinking what I would lose if I cross my line & I haven’t come up with anything either. There’s always another line somewhere.
Curiosity
Can I count on you to be there, no matter what? she said & I said no & she said what kind of friend are you? & I said the kind who won’t lie to you any time you want & I think she kept me around as a curiosity after that
Fast Forward
Fast forwarding through her messages hoping to hear from old boyfriends who finally realize the treasure they’ve thrown away.
More Than A Princess
Are you a princess? I said & she said I’m much more than a princess, but you don’t have a name for it yet here on earth.
Options
I told him if he kept being mean to his brother he might come back as a rodent in his next life & he shrugged & said that’s the chance he’d have to take.
Permanence
Just because they die, she said, doesn’t mean they go away.
Quiet Pride
There has never been a day when I have not been proud of you, I said to my son, though some days I’m louder about other stuff so it’s easy to miss that.

I love this! I just signed up to receive the story of the day by email – I’ll have to limit myself to that, otherwise I would spend hours on storypeople.com.

Is that the same company with the “Remember to use positive affirmations” picture that you gave me (and “I am not a dork is not one of them”…)
I love love love that picture; it’s so perfect for me. And think of you everytime I see it hanging in my house!

I have the print you got for me for my graduation hanging in my house. I think of you every time I look at it! I didn’t realize this is where you got if from!
